  5. New features include:
  6.  
  7. * Cross-post new messages, replies, carbon copies and forwarded messages
  8.   can to any active BBS/conference.
  9.  
  10. * Folders allow you to group and store similar messages in a common place,
  11.   irrespective of their origin.  Folders are easily accessible from any
  12.   BBS.  Just like any other conference, messages in a folder can be replied
  13.   to, printed, saved, deleted, etc.  Folders are ideal for long
  14.   term-storage of certain topical messages and are easily moved to and from
  15.   a floppy disk.
  16.  
  17. * The Quote feature allows you to mark text from various messages and
  18.   include the quotes in your next reply.  When combined with the new view
  19.   mode it provides a powerful tool for collecting quotes from different
  20.   messages, in different conferences, BBSs and folders from within SPEED or
  21.   most external editors.

  23. * View mode allows running multiple sessions of SPEED.  This feature
  24.   provides a means to access all messages and folders at any time.  When
  25.   combined with the new Quoting feature it provides a powerful tool for
  26.   collecting quotes from different messages, in different conferences, BBSs
  27.   and folders from within SPEED or most external editors.

  29. * BBS specific settings let you select a default tagfile, Fido mode,
  30.   maximum number of lines in a message and user signature by BBS.
  31.  
  32. * Direct support for 25/28/43/50 line mode.  SPEED can be set to auto
  33.   detect nonstandard modes such as 33, 36 and 60 line mode.

  35. * Bulk marking commands allow individual messages or messages selected
  36.   based on their To, From or Subject to be marked for group processing.
  37.   Group actions include saving messages to a text file or a folder,
  38.   printing the messages, marking the messages as read, unread, keep, kill
  39.   or unflagged.

  41. * An address book helps you stay in touch with your favorite BBS users.
  42.   There are fields for name, address, phone number, conference/area, BBS,
  43.   routing information, and comments.

  45. * Mailing lists allow you define a list of people to whom you want to send
  46.   a common message.

  48. * Much more memory efficient.  This includes an overlaid SR.EXE that
  49.   provides two command line switches /XMS and /EMS to swap overlays to
  50.   extended and expanded memory.  Also many more screens are dynamically
  51.   loaded from SCREEN.SCR further reducing the amount of memory used.

  53. * A First Line field in the message header, with an associated picklist,
  54.   simplifies routing for networks such as Internet, RIME, Fido, etc.

  56. * An Auto Signature option when toggled "On" will append the contents of
  57.   SIG.SR to each message.  This feature is also selectable on a global,
  58.   conference and BBS basis.

  60. * Enhanced Select BBS Window that displays the number of replies, total
  61.   number of messages and number of unread messages for each BBS, along with
  62.   grand totals for replies, total messages, and unread messages.

  64. * Added limited mouse support.  /MOUSE command line switch enables the
  65.   mouse.

  67. * Support for [ANSI50] and [ANSI43] along with auto-stitching of split
  68.   ANSIs.

  83.   option for the conference listing.  The conference list can be sorted by
  84.   conference number, unread messages, total messages, conference name and
  85.   the number of messages in the last packet.  The conference list can also
  86.   be sorted on the fly while viewing it.

  88. * A hot-key to execute DOS commands.

  90. * Redirect stolen taglines to any tag file and the ability to steal routing
  91.   information just like a tagline.

  93. * Command to build a .REP packet without exiting SPEED.  This allows you to
  94.   upload replies without leaving SPEED or build a .REP packet as a backup
  95.   when using the RAM disk for replies.

  97. * The ability to direct a reply to a non-existent conference.

  99. * A new README mode.  The /r command line switch starts SPEED in a
  100.   hyper-text README mode.  This provides you with up to the minute
  101.   information on J.E. Smith Software, product offerings, future
  102.   developments and other important information.

  104. * A new automated order form (ORDER.EXE) makes completing the registration
  105.   form much easier.  It can be run directly from DOS, from the README mode
  106.   or in SPEED READ (unregistered mode) by pressing ALT-O.

  108. * New unregistered mode that is less intrusive for the first 50 days.
